Review:
No collector should overlook this Lipatti CD. Most of the performances derive from the pianist's last recital in Besancon and have scarcely been out of circulation since their first appearance in the 1950s: the haunting account of the Mozart A minor Sonata and the Bach B flat Partita have both had more thna one incarnation on LP and CD. The Schubert Impromptus are equally treasurable, and the Scarlatti sonatas have been added for the present reissue in EMI’s “Great Recordings of the Century” series
